www.office.com/setup with Office Setup

 

Download and Setup Office or reinstall Office 365 or Office 2019 on a PC or Mac

Before you begin to install with www.office.com/setup, make sure your Personal Computer or Mac meets the system requirements. 

If this is the very first time you’re installing Office with www.office.com/setup you can have some installation steps to do first. Expand the learn more section below. 

Nevertheless, if you’re reinstalling Office, you’ve already redeemed a product key, or you’re installing Office at work or college and know you have a license, then go to the section sign in and install Office on your Personal Computer or Mac.

Sign in to download and install Office on a PC

Sign in for Office Setup Download  at www.office.com/setup

  1. Proceed to www.office.com/setup and if you’re not already signed in, pick Sign in.
  2. Sign in with the account you associated with this version of Office. This account can be a Microsoft account, or work or college account. I forgot the account I use with Office.
  3. After signing in, follow the measures that fit the type of account you signed in with.

If you have signed in with a Microsoft account

From the Office home page which is office.com/setup select Install Office.

Select Install (or depending on your version, Install Office or Office Setup>).

If you have signed in with a School or Work account

From the Office 365 home page which is office.com/my account select Install Office apps (If you set a different start page, go to aka.ms/office-install.)

Select Office Setup 365 apps to start the installation.

Suggestion: The 64-bit version is installed by default Office finds you have a 32 bits version of Office (or a stand-alone Office application for example Project or Visio) installed. In this instance, the 32 bits version of Office is going to be installed instead

To switch in the 32 bits version to a 64-bit version or vice-versa, then you have to uninstall Office first (including any stand-alone Office applications you’ve like Project of Visio).

After the uninstall is complete, register again to www.office.com and select Other installation options, choose the language and version you need (64 or 32-bit), and after that select Install. (See Install Visio or Install Project should you have to reinstall those stand-alone applications.)

This completes the download of Office to your device. To complete the installation, follow the prompts in the”Install Office” section below.

Install Office On A PC

Based on your browser, then select Run (from Edge or Internet Explorer), Installation (from Chrome), or Save Document (from Firefox). 

If you see the User Account Control instant which says, Do you want to permit this application to make changes to your device? Select Yes.

Your setup is finished whenever you see the term, “You’re all set! The Office is installed now” and also an animation plays to show you where to find Office applications on your pc. Select Close.

Installation or sign in issues?

Activate Office at www.office.com/myaccount

  1. To open an Office application, pick the Start button (lower-left corner of your screen) and type the name of an Office application, like Word.

Sign in to download and install Office on a Mac Computer

  1. Go to www.office.com and in case you’re not already signed in, select Sign in.
  2. Sign in with the account you associated with this version of Office. This account can be a Microsoft account, or work or school account. I forgot the account I use with Office.
  3. After enrolling in, follow the measures that match the type of account you signed in with.

Follow the directions below to finish installing your Office applications. 

Notice: If you purchased Office for personal use via your company’s Microsoft HUP benefit, you can not be able to register here. Find installation help. 

If you have signed in with a Microsoft account

From the Office home page which is www.office.com/setup select Office Setup to download office.

If you have signed in with a School or Work account

From the Office 365 home page which is www.office.com/my account select Install Office apps (If you set a different start page, go to aka.ms/office-install.)

Select Office Setup 365 apps to start the installation.

After the download has finished, start Finder, go to Downloads, and then double-click MS Office installer.pkg file (the name may vary slightly).

Tip: If you see an error that states the Ms Office installer.pkg can’t be opened because it’s from an unidentified developer, wait 10 seconds and move the downloaded file to your desktop. Hold Control + click the file to start the installer. 
On the very first installation screen, select Continue to start the installation procedure.

Office Setup on your MAC begins.

Review the software license agreement, and after click Continue. 

Select Agree to agree to the terms of the software license arrangement. 

Choose how you want to set up Office and click Continue. 

Review the disk space requirements or alter your setup location, and after click Install. 

Notice: If you would like to only install particular Office applications and not the entire suite, click the Customize button and then uncheck the programs you don’t want.

Input your Mac login password if prompted and after click Install Software. (This is the password that you use to log into to your Mac.) 
The program begins to install. Click Close when the installation is finished. If Office installation fails, see What to try if you can’t set up or activate Office for Mac.

Establish an Office for Mac application and start the activation Procedure.

Click the Launchpad icon in the Dock to display all your applications.

Click the Microsoft Word icon at the Launchpad.

The What’s New window opens automatically whenever you start Word. Click Get Started to start activating. If you need help activating Office, see Activate Office for Mac. If Office activation fails, see What to try if you can’t set up or activate Office for Mac.

Installation Notes

How do I pin the Office application icon to the dock? 

Go to Finder > Applications and then start the Office application you want. 

From the Dock, Control+click or right-click, the application icon and Select Options > Keep in Dock.
